Sensei Joseph

Sensei Joseph Hanley holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt at Castoldi’s Jujitsu Street Self Defense and is a member of Jujitsu America. His proficiency in Small Circle Jujitsu applies for all sizes including small stature, all ages, all levels, strengths, and abilities.

His philosophies, techniques, and demonstrations are based on 30+ years of experience in the martial arts working with numerous practitioners. He has traveled, competed, and trained across the East Coast and greater United States. Sensei Joseph has studied and practiced Judo, BJJ, Arnis, Weapon’s Disarming, Boxing, Wrestling, Aikido, Karate, and more. His passion and philosophies grew from his years with Professor Dave Castoldi, and his studies of Professor Wally Jay’s Small Circle Jujitsu.

Sensei Joseph has had hands on experience to further hone in on what does and does not work in real life scenarios. He instructs members of law enforcement, the military, first responders, nurses, and more in life saving self-defense. His methods keep people safe and give them the confidence to defend themselves.

His style of instructing brings students into an exciting world of self-defense, where they learn mindset, safety, control, and empowering techniques that can be clearly and realistically applied to life threatening situations, all while providing a fun and challenging atmosphere.

Along with Small Circle Jujitsu and weapons defense and disarming, he has also led law enforcement seminars, women’s self-defense seminars, and worked with children in anti-bullying events. Sensei Joseph continues to study and grow and knows that every lesson is an opportunity to become more proficient. He believes in expanding his knowledge and creating new material with every project and student he encounters, as well as continuing to learn from others in his field.
